Figure 〰️
About this category
Figure is a class of physique competition judged equally on symmetry and muscle tone.
Athletes wear two-piece figure suit; thongs or T-back bottoms are not allowed. The suit may be embellished with rhinestones, sparkles, or sequins for added effect. High-heeled shoes are required. Jewelry and body piecing is allowed, but must not be offensive or obscure the physique.
The Figure category is judged in two 2 rounds. Please see segments below for details.
-
Figure is judged equally on symmetry, muscle tone and stage presence.
Judges will be looking at balance and proportion (e.g., between upper and lower body).
Figures should be symmetrically balanced; upper or lower body should not overpower the other; no one-body part should overpower the rest of the physique. Competitors must also show good muscle tone, leanness and muscle development is expected.
The Figure division will be suitable for athletes who are larger framed and more heavily muscled than Bikini athletes, and slightly harder and leaner but WITHOUT the detail and conditioning of Fit Body or Size of Bodybuilding.
The Figure Division is judged in two 2 rounds:
1.Symmetry takes into account balance and proportion; physiques should be symmetrically balanced with no one body part overpowering the rest of the body.
2.Muscle Tone focuses on moderate muscle tone; leanness and muscle development is expected, however competitors must not be over conditioned as in the Bodybuilding or Fit Body divisions.
-
Judges will score each round and give competitors a final placement for that round before moving on to the next round.
For example, if there are 8 people in the class the judging panel will place athletes 1st thru 8th in each round. When judging is complete both scores (2) will be added together to come up with the final placement for each competitor in that class.
Please note that only the top 3 athletes for each class get awarded. Only the top 5 will be provided with their placings.

We have recently introduced a new section on our website titled 'Poses,' showcasing the mandatory quarter turns and poses essential for our shows 🤩. Check it out HERE
Round 1 - SymmetryAthletes will perform the 4 mandatory quarter turns as follows:
1.Face front
Heels must be together and in line, without either foot ahead of the other.
Hips MUST face the judges and arms must remain to the sides (although they shouldn't touch the sides or be exaggerated spread wide)
Lats should be open/flared to show a nice V-Taper
Toes must face the judges, but competitors can angle their toes out slightly if it helps to accentuate their quad presentation
2.Side Pose
From the front pose, competitors execute a ¼ turn to the right and adjust stance:
Upper body turned 35 degrees toward judges so the rear shoulder can be seen
Hips must face side of the stage
Eyes must face side of the stage
Toes must face side of the stage with both feet flat. The feet can be offset only half the distance of the foot (front or back foot offset)
Long hair should be pushed back behind the front shoulder so it doesn't obscure view
Front and rear hands should hang freely with palms toward the body
3.Face Rear
From the side pose, competitors execute a ¼ turn to the right and face the curtain or rear of the stage
Both feet must be together or very close
Toes cannot be spread wide apart
Feet cannot be offset to any degree (i.e., one in front of the other)
Competitors should brush their hair to one side so their back can be seen.
Arms must be at the sides with the hands hanging freely.
Round 2 - Muscle Tone
Competitors must show good muscle tone. Leanness and muscle development is expected; however, competitors should NOT exhibit as much conditioning and muscle mass/size as presented in Fit Body or bodybuilding.
✔️ In this round the figure athlete will go through their ‘ I-Walk’. Athletes can perform athletic/ muscular poses of their choice with arms below the head or simply perform each one of the mandatory quarter turn poses . See graphic below.
The I-Walk will consist of a pose of the athlete’s choice at the rear centre stage and a walk to the center front.
The competitor will then present their four quarter turns and exit through the right side of the stage (the same way they entered)
✔️ Poses should not be held for more than 3 seconds each.
✔️ 35 seconds is the maximum time allocated for the I-Walk
✔️ The I-Walk will be done to music selected by WNBF Australia.
✔️ Poses should present an athletic aesthetic and not be too "Bodybuilding" oriented.
✔️Overall stage presence – judges will assess competitor’s ability to confidently and seamlessly execute quarter turns within a stage walk.

A Junior athlete will be under 23 and older than 18 on the day of the show (Australia only).

First Timer:
Is this your first season competing, or are you transitioning to a more muscular category for the first time? If so, you qualify as a First-Timer!
First-Timers are either newcomers to competitive bodybuilding or athletes with some experience entering a new category for the first time. First-Timers can also join the Novice class and crossover to the Open class in a different category (e.g., First-Timer Fit Body- Open Figure).Novice:
Novice competitors are either first time competitors, someone who has competed and has not placed top three in an Open class (in the WNBF or in any other natural organisation)
If you win a Novice class, you are then required to compete in an Open class.
The overall Novice winner will be invited into the Open class of the same category in the same event.
Open:
(This is a Pro Card winning class 🏆)
This class is split into 2, A and B, based on the athlete's height.
Masters
(This is a Pro Card winning class 🏆)
Athletes over the age of 40 are eligible for the Figure Masters class.
-
Only the top 3 athletes in each class will be awarded. However, only the winner (1st place) of a class will get to compete for the overall title and a Pro Card.
Note:
✔️ Only Open class competitors and Masters are eligible for Pro Cards.
✔️ Depending on the total number of competitors, classes may be arranged differently than stipulated. This also means less (or more) Pro Cards can be awarded.
✔️ Pro Card winners will be officially recognised by the WNBF and its other international affiliates once urine tests come back negative.
