To have a chance to earn an internationally recognised WNBF Pro Card, you must register for either the Open or Masters class. For Masters, you must be over 40 years of age.
However, keep in mind, that each Pro Card is different.
The Open Pro Card is considered the highest status card, allowing athletes to compete in both Open and Masters Pro classes (if they meet the age requirement). This card provides access to higher-value cash prizes and potential sponsorships. The Masters Pro Card, while highly valued and prestigious, allows competition only in Masters Pro classes. Athletes can win both Pro Cards; for example, Dr. Eric Helms achieved this last year by winning both the Masters and Open Bodybuilding classes in our Season B show.
-
A Junior athlete will be under 23 and older than 18 on the day of the show (Australia only).
Athletes who are 24 years and 1 day old on the day of the show are not eligible to compete in the Junior class*
*If the show is postponed and you have already signed up while meeting the age requirement you may be eligible to still compete as a Junior. Contact us and we will be happy to look into your case.
-
Novice competitors are either first time competitors, someone who has competed and has not placed top three in an Open class of a specific category (in the WNBF or in any other natural organisation).
Additionally, if you have placed in the top three or won an Open class in one category, but not in another category you now wish to compete in, you are eligible to compete as a Novice in that new category.
For example, if you are a WNBF Pro in Men's Physique, you can still compete as a Novice in Bodybuilding if you have never placed in the top three in the Bodybuilding category.
Important Update*
Until April 2024, if you won a Novice class, you would not automatically advance to the Open class of the same category and show. You could only transition to an Open class starting from our next event onward. However, as of April 10th, 2024, we have changed this regulation. We now invite all Novice overall winners to join our Open class. The decision to join the Open class is entirely up to the athlete. -
The Open class is the most competitive and prestigious class, where the highest-status Pro Card is awarded.
Any athlete can join, but it usually consists of more experienced competitors with considerable stage time. Before entering, it’s wise to consult with your coach or seek our guidance. Note that competing in the Open class disqualifies you from First-timers or Novice classes (within the same category), but you can still enter the Masters class if you’re over 40.
Important:
The Open Pro Card allows athletes to compete in both Open and Masters Pro classes (if they meet the age requirement), offering access to higher-value cash prizes and potential sponsorships. In contrast, the Masters Pro Card only permits competition in Masters Pro classes. An athlete can win both an Open and a Masters Pro Card; for example, Dr. Eric Helms achieved this last year by winning both the Masters and Open Bodybuilding classes in our show. -
The Masters class is reserved for senior athletes over 40 years of age.
In this class, athletes can be awarded a Masters Pro Card, which allows them to join Pro Masters classes at various shows around the globe.
-
This class is for those entering their first-ever natural bodybuilding season. If you haven't competed in a previous season, you qualify as a first-timer. First-timers can only cross over to the Novice and Masters classes within the same category , not Open (Crossovers between categories are accepted. i.e Bikini Open x Figure First timer).
Note: If this is your first season in a different and more muscular category, you can join as a first-timer. For example, if you have competed before as a Bikini competitor but are now trying to join Figure for the first time in your competitive career, you qualify as a first-timer. For males, if you have only competed in the Men's Physique category or equivalent but now want to try Bodybuilding for the first time, you can register as a first-timer. If you are unsure whether or not you qualify as a First-timer, please send us an email and we will be happy to assist.
-
Yes, athletes can join multiple categories and classes in the same event. However, there are some rules you need to consider. These are as follows.
1.You can join multiple categories. We do this in order to allow you to determine where your physique might best fit and will make you the most successful.
For instance, male competitors are permitted to join Men's Physique and Bodybuilding, while females can join Bikini, along with Fit Body, Figure or Bodybuilding.
2.You can join multiple classes in the same category. As an example, you could join Open and Masters , or Novice and Junior in Bodybuilding.
What’s not allowed?
❌ First-timers are not allowed to crossover to an Open class within the same category.
❌ First-timers can crossover to Novice and Masters. Novice and Masters can crossover to First-timer as long as they meet the criteria for First-timer.❌ Novice athletes cannot crossover to an Open class within the same category (e.g., Bodybuilding Novice to Bodybuilding Open). However, you can crossover to an Open class in a different category.
